Buick’s pre-reveal teaser machine is gearing up with the second shadowy photo of their next-generation LaCrosse mid-size sedan.
We’ll see the finished product in the flesh for the first time at next month’s Los Angeles Auto Show, before it arrives in Buick’s North American showrooms in the second half of 2016 as a 2017 model.
It’s hard to be absolutely sure from the two teasers, but it seems that the new LaCrosse has a less chunky (and geriatric) design with a gently sloping roofline at the back. The front will sport Buick’s new slimmer grille with the three-color tri-shield insignia nested between a wing-shaped element.
Under the redesign body, the 2017 LaCrosse uses GM’s much lighter E2XX platform architecture shared with the new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, which itself, shed 300 pounds, so expect similar savings on the Buick model that will sport a new five-link rear suspension instead of the current model’s four-link setup.
The new LaCrosse is expected to be powered by similar engine offerings found on the Malibu, including 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter turbocharged fours, and possibly, a hybrid plus a revised V6, with all-wheel drive to be an option.
