While most people drag race just for fun, those who actually can’t stand to lose a 1 on 1 straight line battle need to stop picking fights with sneaky-fast opponents.
Getting behind the wheel of a 740 PS Ferrari F12 Berlinetta might make you feel pretty invincible. You can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph), which is a lot better than what you’ll do in any stock 911 Turbo or Turbo S for that matter.
The fastest you can go in a Turbo S without any engine mods is 318 km/h (197 mph) so even if the Porsche gets off the line slightly better than the Ferrari, the F12 should have enough muscle and enough room (in this case) to catch up and overtake as well.
However, if you know anything about drag racing and 911s in general, you should know never to take one on if you know it’s packing more power than advertised by the manufacturer.
In this case we’re looking at a 650 PS 911 Turbo S (911) which should probably be left alone unless you’re rolling up in some type of hypercar or packing a couple of extra few hundred HP. Anything less will just leave you unable to catch up once the 911 beats you off the line.
We’ve seen this happen over and over as 650 PS 911s took out more powerful opponents such as a 700+ HP RS7, 750 HP CLS 63 AMG and even a Lamborghini Aventador that looked completely out of its league once they crossed the finish line.
Now’s about the time you stop wondering who won this particular drag race.
