Here’s our best look yet at Fiat’s brand-new pickup truck named Toro that will launch early next year in South America.
A possible rival to the likes of the Toyota Hilux, Volkswagen Amarok and Ford Ranger, the Toro looks like the Jeep Cherokee, Citroen C4 Picasso or Nissan Juke of compact pickup trucks with its dual fascia layout.
And just as it happens with both these cars, some may find the Toro’s design appealing and unique, and some may find it, well, appalling, but there’s no way it will go by unnoticed, and that was clearly Fiat’s intention; to stand out in a sea of –mostly bland- compact pickup truck offerings.
While the Italians shed some light on the Toro’s appearance today, we remain in the dark in regards to the truck’s other aspects, as we only know that Fiat aims to market it as a more-passenger friendly “Sport Utility Pickup or SUP” that combines the “strength and characteristics of a truck” with “all the comfort features and drivability of an SUV”.
Believed to be around 4.9 meters in length, the Toro is rumored to go on sale in South America with an entry-level, bi-fuel 1.8-liter engine producing around 140-horses and a possibly, a 2.0-liter Multijet turbo diesel available in both two- and four-wheel drive setups.
