The newly unveiled, limited edition 650S Can-Am is arguably one of the coolest models in McLaren’s line-up, but the 675 LT is still the king of the hill.
Or was, to be more specific, as all the 500 copies of the hardcore, track-hungry model are already sold-out. But don’t worry, because the British car manufacturer plans another batch of limited, hard-to-get LTs, only this time the model will come without a roof.
Yes, the 675 LT Spider will apparently make it into production, as Autovisie reports that McLaren confirmed this in a recent interview. Naturally, like the coupe variant, the Spider will make the track its natural home, mainly because it will allegedly sport the exact same underpinnings as the “normal” 675 Long Tail.
That means the 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged, V8 will be doubling its loudness when the roof is down, while accelerating the car from 0 to 100 km/h in about 3 seconds all the way to a top speed of 330km/h (205mph), thanks to its 666 hp and 700Nm (516 lb ft) power output and a 40% higher downforce than the common Spider.
Mind you, as the 675 LT Coupe is 100 kg lighter than the standard model, the future Spider variant will presumably be 100 kg lighter than the normal 650S drop-top, although it will probably weigh a little more than the 675 LT (because the typical Spider is 40 kg heavier than the fixed-roof 650S).
Like its Long-Tail sibling, production is believed to be limited at only 500 units, although its price tag will probably be the one making it truly exclusive and hard to acquire.
