Honda has been inviting folks to test drive their all-new 2016 Civic and, as you can imagine, the dedicated forums are on fire with fresh pictures of the compact sedan.
Forum test drive participants spotters from the CivicX and 10thcivicforum websites, and even Honda PRs, shared photos of the new model in different shades than the more sober looking, dark-grey display car from last month’s Los Angeles presentation, including in red, white, blue, and what is believed to be called, ‘Burgundy Night Pearl’.
We also have a short video of the 2016 Civic’s instruments in action with the splash screen on the center digital panel that contains the virtual speedometer and tachometer bordered by the backlit temperature and fuel gauges.
There’s a lot of interest in the 10th-gen Civic, not only because it’s one of the most radical redesigns in the car’s history (together with Europe’s 8th-gen hatchback from 2006 that had an even more ground-breaking design for its time), but also because it debuts Honda’s first turbocharged gasoline engine in the States.
The new 1.5-liter turbocharged four that incorporates Honda’s proprietary i-VTEC variable-valve timing system that is good for 173hp, will sit at the top of the range at launch, with a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder rated at 158hp powering the entry-level models.
US sales of Honda’s competitor to the Mazda3, Chevrolet Cruze and other compact sedans, will begin before the end of the year.
