Nissan has announced US pricing for the new 2016 Altima, set to go on sale November 11 with a starting MSRP of $22,500.
The Altima has been Nissan’s best-selling vehicle in North America, which is why the brand put some effort into making this 2016 version more appealing. The design has been upgraded with a new and more muscular front end and very Maxima-like boomerang-shaped headlights.
Its model lineup has also been expanded with a new Altima SR grade version featuring 18″ alloys wheels, smoked headlights, paddle shifters, rear spoiler, unique suspension tuning and sporty interior accents.
In terms of safety, the Altima comes with Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW), radar-based Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Forward Emergency Braking (FEB), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) – pretty much the whole entrée of safety gear Nissan have it their disposal.
There’s no denying the fact that the Altima is now a more attractive car than before and if you want to get really meticulous in your research, you’ll find that it’s cheaper to purchase than rivals such as the 2016 Toyota Camry, but more expensive than an entry-level Passat or Accord.
The top of the line Altima 3.5 SL model is $32,090 and features a 3.5-liter 270 HP V6 unit, which should do fine in terms of performance. However, some customers might be better served by a middle-of-the-pack 2.5 liter 182 HP model, which has roughly the same power you get in the entry-level Accord & Camry.
