Black is the new…beige for Porsche, which apparently, has a plan to offer a ‘Black Edition’ for every single model and engine combination in its growing range.
After the recent launch of the Black Edition 911 Carrera 2 and 4, and Boxster models, Stuttgart has applied the same dark treatment to the base Cayman coupe.
As you’d expect, it features black paintwork with a black partial (let’s not get carried away from the special edition moniker; it’s Porsche we’re talking about here) leather interior, along with 20-inch Carrera Classic alloy wheels, a Sport Design steering wheel and optional side window trims in aluminum.
The car’s standard equipment has been beefed up with the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system that includes navigation, rain sensor for the wipers, cruise control, parking assistant on both ends, the higher-quality Sound Package Plus audio system, two-zone climate control and heated seats.
The Porsche Cayman Black Edition uses the standard car’s mid-mounted 2.7-liter flat-six engine that gets 275PS (271hp) and is good for 0-62mph (100km/h) in 5.7 seconds.
It goes on sale in Europe this week, with prices in Germany starting from €59,596, an €8,211 premium over the base Cayman. No word on North American availability yet.
