Those who have seen the Mazda RX-Vision concept in Tokyo say photos don’t really do it justice. Videos are the next best thing, although we’re sure they’re still a far cry from seeing it in the metal.

Even so, they offer the best look at what is probably the most exciting reveal of late 2015. It’s not a production car, but it’s Mazda’s way of announcing they are thinking about making something like this for the road, and that it will have a Wankel rotary engine.

The styling is simply gorgeous, especially the side profile and RX-7-reminiscent butt. It looks like a modern Mazda with Kodo design, but it has hints of the company’s past sports glories – you can even see it translated into a facelift for the new MX-5 in 2 – 3 years’ time.

Too bad Mazda said nothing about it at the Tokyo motor show, other than the fact it does confirm their intention to create a rotary sports car in the not too distant future.
