While there is no such thing as a non-special supercar, some of them can be more remarkable than others. Such is the case with the Ferrari 458 Speciale.
The 458 Italia made way for the faster and more powerful 488 GTB this year and purists mourned the passing of yet another naturally aspirated V8 supercar. Sure, at one point, performance does matter most, as does efficiency, but some things you can never get back.
The reason why the 458 Speciale will never be forgotten is because it always had a much clearer purpose than the regular model – to be as fast as possible around a race track. This is why we generally tend to appreciate models like the 911 GT3 RS or the Aventador SV more than their standard counterparts.
The 605 PS Ferrari 458 Speciale is just as quick to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) as the newer 488 GTB, and in a way, that means that this car won’t be going quietly into the night anytime soon.
In terms of looks, it’s obviously more aggressive than the regular 458 Italia and many would agree that it’s better looking than the turbocharged 488 as well. But, to each his own.
Now the reason why we’re gathered here is to check out this splendid set of matte black ADV1 wheels, measuring 20×9 at the front and 21×12.5 at the rear. It’s the same design we saw on this white Porsche 911 Turbo S, except than those were…white – to better match the Porsche’s aesthetics.
In this case however, the matte black goes really well with the red 458 Speciale, especially since it’s packing a few extra carbon fiber elements, giving us even more contrast between the colors.
