Since very few things can be more frightening for a parent than to have a car accident while their kids are inside the vehicle, Subaru is out to prove that the 2016 Forester can keep families safe in traffic.
Subaru is at it again, playing off their “It’s what makes a Subaru, a Subaru” slogan, and focusing on a very important dynamic of owning a SUV. While the Forester is a rather compact model, it does come with driver assist systems such as Pre-Collision Braking and Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure & Sway Warning.
You might not have the size of a Tahoe on your side during a collision, but the Forester still received a Top Safety Pick + rating from the IIHS – losing out only to the 2015 Hyundai Tucson and Mazda CX-5. Even so, the Forester scored “in the green” during all collisions (Small overlap front, Moderate overlap front, Side, Roof strength, Head restraints & seats) and was rated ‘Superior’ for its Front Crash Prevention capabilities.
This ‘Checking on the Kids’ video is obviously aimed (very well, might I add) towards parents, who will do absolutely anything in order to keep their kids safe. The idea that you can buy a car with safety as your main concern isn’t foreign in any way and there are more than a few very grateful moms and dads out there who owe their good-health to their sturdy SUVs.
Having said that, the type of collision Subaru is showing us here wouldn’t harm anyone, regardless of what type of family car they were driving. And of course, this isn’t the first time Subaru has opted to have an emotional theme for their commercials.
