Toyota updated the Prius by introducing a new generation earlier this year. But is it better than the old one? Well, according to this reviewer, the answer is “yes”..

The gas-electric hybrid has a front fascia inspired by the Mirai FCV and the liftback body style was maintained, offering practicality and room for five adults. Less hard plastics, better quality materials and a quieter ride make the new Prius better than its predecessor.

The powertrain has a familiar layout but it now uses a new 1.8-liter petrol with 97hp (98 PS) and 105lb-ft (142 Nm) of torque, along with an electric motor generating 71hp (72 PS) and 120lb-ft (163 Nm) of torque.

Fuel economy ratings stand at 54/50/52 (city/highway/combined mpg), while on the new Eco grade, these improve to 58/53/56 mpg respectively.

The fourth generation Toyota Prius is available for order now and it starts from $24,200 for the entry-level Prius Two, while the range-topping Four Touring costs $30,000.
