It’s been nearly four months since Porsche built the last piece of its hybrid hypercar, yet interested parties can still acquire a brand new one.
As is often the case with limited edition models, some of the 918 units were bought not to be driven but to be sold almost immediately. It’s a sure bet they will fetch a hefty premium over the sticker price, so if you’re into the business you can look at it strictly as a nice investment.
One 918 Spyder is currently available in Australia at Dutton Garage, a dealership claiming “immense buying power” that doesn’t deal with “average” – only “masterpieces” will do.
Porsche’s 887 PS, all-wheel drive hybrid certainly fits the bill (pun intended). Whether it’s the best-looking of the three 21st hypercars everyone’s itching to get their hands on is a matter of personal taste.
So far, though, in spite of being the least powerful, it has proven to be the most potent. Just ask the McLaren P1; at Woking, they must still be sulking…
