More details about Citroen’s future products emerge, as the French car manufacturer wants to focus its resources on maintaining its unique design philosophy.
Just a few months ago, we learned that Citroen plans to keep its style eccentricity alive by implementing some elements of the Cactus M Concept in its future line-up.
Truth be told, the company continuously tried to remain relevant, going as far as adding some German flair to its creations. This didn’t seem to work as planned, so it has changed its course and will instead focus on its distinctive, and at the same time innovative, styling.
In fact, Automotive News reports that “quirky designs” will play a major role in Citroen’s reinvention. Strategy director Mathieu Bellamy said: “Beginning in 2016, you will see new car launches every year that will also be very different from competing models – and definitely very quirky,”
Even the future C4 and C5 models will benefit from the design overhaul, which will take its inspiration from the Cactus and Aircross concepts.
“We told the design team that we must reinvent the classic C4 and C5 when we replace them,” Bellamy commented. “So we will replace those cars, of course, with something very different. In many ways, the Aircross concept represents the future of the brand and what the range will be tomorrow.”
Back in the day, Citroen was known for its out-of-the-ordinary approach of designing automobiles, and it seems that the brand looks forward to reinvent itself with the values that initially put it on the map and in the hearts of petrolheads.
