Volvo may be trying to cover the upcoming S90, but thanks to these all scale models that have leaked online, we have a pretty clear image on how the car will eventually look like.

The story behind this one is the same as before, a few dozen 1:43 scale models went missing from the Norev toy factory, after Volvo commissioned 2,000 of the S90 and 2,000 of the V90 models.

The example shown here is finished in Onyx Black and has the same front fascia as the new XC90, with the “Thor’s hammer” LED DRLs and grille. The sloping roofline adds a sportier touch and the rear end shows the massive C-shaped taillights that extended on the trunk lid, along with dual exhaust pipes.

The new flagship Volvo will be offered in two body styles, S90 (sedan) and V90 (estate) and it will ride on the firm’s SPA (Scalable Product Architecture), just like the above-mentioned SUV.

CarNewsChina reports that the front fascia and platform will not be the only common things between the S90 / V90 and the XC90, as the two models will also receive the same engine lineup as the SUV, mentioning the T5, T6 and T8 petrol and the D4 and D5 diesel units.

The successor of the Volvo S80 is expected to debut at the 2016 NAIAS, next January.
