Porsche Cars North America is denying EPA’s accusations regarding the trick emissions software which is said to be found on V6 TDI engines.
Shortly after Volkswagen AG released a statement on EPA’s accusations about installing software designed to defeat emissions tests on the 3.0l V6 TDI engines, Porsche is doing the same thing.
The Stuttgart car brand refuted the allegations saying that the Cayenne Diesel is fully compliant and that the trick emissions device hasn’t been used on this particular unit.
“Late this morning, Porsche Cars North America, Inc. received a notice of violation from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding the 2015 Porsche Cayenne Diesel. We are surprised to learn this information. Until this notice, all of our information was that the Porsche Cayenne Diesel is fully compliant. Porsche Cars North America will cooperate fully with all relevant authorities.”
Yesterday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said that numerous 3.0l V6 TDIs have been fitted with the emissions defeat software. The accusations basically meant that 2014-2016 model years vehicles, including the Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q5, A6, A7 and A8, equipped with the aforementioned unit, would have been part of the massive “dieselgate” scandal. This could affect 500,000 TDIs in the U.S. and 11-million worldwide.
