A 20-year old man driving a stolen Porsche Boxster GTS was involved in a high-speed chase in Britain, which ended when he crashed the roadster into a mini roundabout.
The Boxster was brand new when it was stolen as it had just 5 miles on its odometer. The incident was captured on the police car’s dashcam last December, but the footage was just uploaded on the web. Local authorities stated that John O’Brien-Daniels and an accomplice were tracked for several months, before being arrested.
The young man was charged for several felonies, including burglary, robbery, handling stolen keys and aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent and he was sentenced to six years in prison, by the Lewes Crown Court, on October 30. He ended up pleading guilty to all charges and he was also disqualified from driving for five years.
“O’Brien-Daniels is a man who showed no regard for other people, be it someone threatened with a knife, home owners or those lives put at risk by his dangerous driving. The judge imposed a lengthy sentence, underlining the severity of his offending and the impact his actions had on other people”, said Detective Sergeant Jason Tuck.
Porsche’s roadster uses a 3.4-liter boxer six-cylinder engine, producing 330 PS (326 HP) for a 4.7sec run from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) and a top speed of 281 km/h (175 mph). It costs €73,757 ($102,692) and, despite not be a supercar, it still hurts to see one ruined.
