Despite the slowdown in China adversely affecting a number of automakers, Porsche has just announced that for the first time in its history, it has delivered over 200,000 vehicles in a year – one month before 2015 ends, at that.
Until the end of November, the German marque has managed to deliver 209,894 vehicles. That figure represents a 24 per cent jump over the first 11 months of 2014 that, at 189,849 units, was a record.
A key reason for the impressive sales increase comes thanks to the Porsche Cayenne. This year, 68,029 examples of the Cayenne have been sold, a 14 per cent jump over Jan-Nov 2014. In November alone, 6,579 Cayennes found new homes, 39 per cent over November 2014. Across Porsche’s entire range of models, Porsche sold 18,110 cars last month.
Accounting for 34 per cent of Porsche’s sales this year have been China, totaling 54,302 units. The second largest market is the United States, with 47,891 cars sold while across all of Europe, sales have jumped significantly by 30 per cent to 70,509 cars.
Porsche announced back in 2011 that it was targeting 200,000 annual sales by 2018. Apparently, it has reached that goal three years ahead of schedule.
