On the back of the reveal of the Chevrolet Malibu Red Line Concept at last month’s SEMA show, it has been announced that the Red Line series could make its way into production.
At SEMA, Chevrolet unveiled the Red Line concepts to showcase the personalisation options available for its Camaro, Spark, Trax, Silverado and Malibu models. On the back of the positive reception the Malibu Red Line concept received, the automaker may make it available to the public, reports Edmunds.
Initially, a number of the accessories from the Malibu Red Line concept will be offered directly from Chevrolet dealerships. In addition to that, there’s a possibility that Chevrolet will offer the Red Line package in its entirety as a bespoke appearance package available as an option from the factory.
The initial concept could be differentiated from the regular Malibu on a number of fronts. For starters, it included custom 19-inch wheels with red accents, a rear spoiler, black bowtie emblem, tinted windows and taillights and bespoke grille surrounds and inserts. Additionally, the suspension was lowered and while all of the concept’s distinct components could be offered to the public, the lowered suspension is unlikely to be one of them.
It isn’t known when Chevrolet could introduce the Red Line package but it does have a history of introducing distinct styling packages based off SEMA concepts, having done just that in 2014 with the Impala Midnight Edition.
