The Lamborghini 400 GT was born in an era when carburetors were a common thing on vehicles and it was approved by Ferruccio Lamborghini himself.
Unveiled at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show as a successor to the 350GT, it’s a 2+2 grand tourer, but, as you would expect, the rear seats are only there for small children or extra luggage space. The sports car has a 4.0-liter V12 engine, connected to a 5-speed manual transmission, which sends around 360hp at 6,000rpm, to the rear wheels.
Spotting one on the road is close to impossible since only 247 units left the assembly line yet, this particular example was driven for approximately 300,000 miles (482,803km) throughout its entire lifetime.
Jack Riddell bought the 1967-born machine back in 1972, after he saved the money and convinced its previous owner to let it go for from a $7,500 asking price to $6,250. His technical skills allowed him to maintain and improve the Lamborghini over the years as he added a custom-built ignition system and a modified Jaguar distributor, among others.
“I like to drive it. You can cruise at 140mph (225km/h) all day if you could do it legally, but you can’t unfortunately“, says the lucky owner.
