Rolls-Royce’s answer to the Bentley Bentayga might still be a few years away from a final version, but it doesn’t hurt anyone to try and figure out how it could look like.
Remco Meulendijk of RM Design is on the same page and with all the attention going these months to the impressive SUV signed by Bentley, most forgot that Rolls-Royce is planning a similar model too, which is currently known under the official code-name Cullinan, as a reference to the largest gem-quality diamond ever found.
The Photoshoper’s take on the upcoming SUV includes the familiar Rolls front fascia, with an imposing chromed grille, modern headlights with the incorporated LED DRLs and the famous “Flying Lady”. The side profile resembles the Range Rover, while similar lines can be seen throughout the rear too, along with the company’s taillights, dual exhaust pipes and a clean look for the tailgate.
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is expected to be based on a new aluminum architecture, similar to the Phantom’s spaceframe, which should be used on future models within the brand’s lineup. Under the hood, chances are it will receive a modified version of the flagship’s 6.8-liter V12, along with a possible hybrid.
The model will reportedly be introduced in 2018 and it’s expected to be priced from around £250,000 to £280,000, or the equivalent $372,000 to $417,000 at the current exchange rates.
