If there’s one thing you can count on in the luxury car segment, is that customers with deep pockets will consider a two door version of whatever flagship saloon is trending out there.
There are plenty of historical precedents for this. The new S-Class Coupe is a clear reflection of the older CL-Class models, while Bentley’s Continental GT needs no introduction. Then there’s Rolls-Royce, arguably the ultimate luxury car manufacturer.
This is where Lincoln comes into play because with their all-new Continental, shaving off a couple of doors doesn’t look like the most difficult thing in the world, does it?
So what can we tell from this rendering? It certainly looks elegant enough. The only problem is that it might not be as sporty as some would like – at least in this interpretation from Theophilus Chin.
The Lincoln Continental was developed as a saloon, which is why imagining it as a Coupe (or GT) sort of works, but it’s not entirely convincing. Still, that 400 HP twin-turbo V6 sounds great no matter what body style it serves.
