Thanks to its naturally-aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine from the 911 Carrera S, the Cayman GT4 has already cemented its place as one of the best sports cars currently on the market.
It is so good in fact that it was awarded the coveted Car of the Year award from Evo Magazine, beating out the likes of the latest Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Lamborghini Aventador SV and McLaren 675LT.
The key advantage the Cayman GT4 has over the GT3 RS is that is much more affordable and comes with a 6-speed manual transmission making for an engaging driving machine.
As we’ve come to expect from the tuning world, no amount of accolades or praise can put firms off attempting to improve the very best and Fabspeed Motorsport are currently doing just that with the GT4.
Recently, the company fitted a silver example with a custom exhaust and a remapped ECU and when strapped to the dyno, figures of 389 hp and 335 lb-ft at the rear wheels were recorded, meaning that at the crank, this GT4 has around 450 hp, making it an appealing alternative to not only the 911 GT3 but also the much more expensive GT3 RS.
