BMW‘s M division boss Frank van Meel has confirmed that the latest 3- and 4-Series M versions will soon be offered with a new performance pack.
Van Meel broke the news at an M’s official magazine exclusive interview.
The Competition Package will be offered for the M3 Sedan, M4 Coupe and M4 Cabriolet. Changes will include more power from the 425 hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder, even sharper driving dynamics and additions in the cabin.
There’s no reason for the M Division to unseat its 500 hp M4 GTS, so it’s reasonable to assume that the updates will keep power below that figure comfortably lower, maybe around 450-460 hp or so.
Beyond the engine upgrades, the suspension will undoubtedly be more sporty than the standard M3/M4 in order to improve what is an already excellent chassis.
No further details about the Competition Package are known by van Meel did promise to reveal additional details shortly.
