During their stay at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Ford made sure to let the world know that they belong among the most forward thinking automotive brands.
Whether it’s their refreshed SYNC connectivity system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto & 4G LTE, or their Amazon Echo integration, it’s obvious that customers are going to gravitate towards the connectivity-conscious brands starting with this year.
Ford, of course, wasn’t going to fall behind their competitors when it came to in-car tech, which is also the reason why they’ve tripled their autonomous vehicle development fleet recently.
Those hard-working Fusion hybrids are pioneering arguably the most important technology as of right now in the entire automotive industry, and it was only natural for Ford to have one such car take center stage at CES. On the wall next to it, Ford talked about how their automated research vehicle uses four LiDAR sensors to generate a “real-time 3D map of the vehicle’s surrounding environment,” while at the same time serving “as a research platform to develop potential solutions to long-term societal, legislative and technological issues raised by a future of fully autonomous vehicles.”
Quite a mouthful but wonderfully true nonetheless. A future of fully autonomous vehicles is what awaits all of us, even though we’re many decades away from having all the cars on the road be able to drive themselves.
While the venue wasn’t exactly the best match, Ford’s Performance division didn’t want to leave the all-new Focus RS and the GT out of the spotlight. Unlike that stunning yellow Ford GT, the RS was on display outside, which is fair since technically speaking, it’s nowhere near as advanced as the supercar.
