With the current generation of the Citroen C3 in production since 2009, the model is about to be replaced.

The popular French supermini is expected to be introduced by the end of the year and, according to a report published by AlVolante, the vehicle should be based on the same platform as the current Peugeot 208.

The subcompact will be roughly the same size as the current version and chances are its exterior will be inspired by its larger sister, the C4, while the interior should bring “multimedia solutions” introduced in the current model, including the large color screen, with its integrated touch controls.

Under the hood, the 2017 Citroen C3 might be offered, initially at least, with a range of revised petrol and diesel engine, including the 82PS and 110PS 1.2-liter petrol, in naturally aspirated and turbocharged variants, along with the 75PS, 99PS and 120PS 1.6-liter BlueHDi. The units should be paired to a manual transmission, but an automatic is expected to be offered in the range too.
