VL Automotive, the company promising to produce a V8-powered Fisker Karma, has just been renamed VLF.

Originally, VL Automotive was founded by both Bob Lutz and Gillbert Villarreal and promised to help salvage some of what was left of Fisker Automotive. Now alongside the name change, it’s been announced that none other than Henrik Fisker has been named as the third member of VLF’s executive management team as well as a key shareholder.

As part of his role with VLF, Fisker will act as head of design and product strategy. Meanwhile Bob Lutz will act as chairman and Villarreal as chief executive.

The company still intends to produce the Destino, its Fisker Karma installed with a C6 Corvette ZR1 drivetrain. Additionally, Henrik Fisker’s upcoming Force 1 supercar will also be sold under the VLF name, if and when it reaches the production line considering ongoing issues with Aston Martin.

While details about the Destino were first released some three years ago, all the bold claims are the same. That means the model will have 638 hp on tap courtesy of its supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8, making the zero to 60 mph sprint capable in just 3.9 seconds and an apparent 200 mph top speed achievable.
