BMW Launches M Performance Parts For The M2 Coupe

With the M2 Coupe still in the waiting room for the official launch, BMW has dropped an extensive range of bespoke M Performance parts for its hot baby.

The range includes aerodynamic components made out of carbon-reinforced plastic, even sportier exhaust solutions, options for the suspension and the brakes as well as new parts for the cabin.

Starting with the aero bits, these include front and side attachments, a rear diffuser and mirror caps made out of lightweight CRFP. Each one is designed to offer better aerodynamic performance and further emphasize the aggressive nature of the compact coupe. All of them combined together optimize the airflow around the M2 coupe.

M Performance offers a flap silencer system which offers a more intense aural experience from the turbocharged engine. Two operating modes are available via Bluetooth remote control, Sport and Track. Sport mode is intended for road use while Track raises the volume and character of the exhaust sound. Customers can choose between two different exhaust pipes too; the first one measures 80mm in diameter and features a perforated inner pipe. The second has carbon fiber trim and a diameter of 93mm.

As for those who need some extra road-holding, M Performance’s coil-spring suspension promises to do the trick. This drops the ride height by at least 5mm when compared to the standard suspension with owners able to further lower the car by an additional 20mm. The adjustable shocks offer 16 levels in the rebound stage and 12 in the compression stage, allowing the driver to tailor the setup to personal preference.

Track-day lovers can opt for the sports brake pads from the range, which offer higher resistance to thermal stress, meaning minimal to no fade even under extreme use.

M Performance’s treatment for the cabin includes LED door sills and floor mats but the main offering is the two different steering wheels: the M Performance which has a race display and carbon fibre trim and the M Performance Pro which features Alcantara on the rim, a harder foam body for better grip, a light blue central marking at the 12 o’ clock position and an optional open-pore carbon fiber trim element.

Finally the Interior Kit Carbon includes trim elements for the twin-clutch transmission gear selector level, center console and handbrake handle and the M Performance interior trim finishers which blend Alcantara and of course carbon fiber.

I don’t know if the BMW M2 Coupe really needs all this stuff to be awesome, but then again, I’m not one of the lucky b@stards who’ve ordered one.
