This is it, the final production version of Seat’s new SUV model which goes by the Ateca name.
The official photos were leaked earlier by WCF, showing a predictable shape that stays true to the Spanish company’s design language. The new Ateca is based on the MQB platform of the Group which is also used in the Leon.
The new Ateca is a crucial addition to SEAT’s line up as the company wants to increase its market share in the European market. Designed to rival cars like the Nissan Qashqai, the Kia Sportage and the Hyundai Tucson, the Seat Ateca will be offered in a wide selection of powertrains, including FWD and AWD versions.
Unsurprisingly the engine range will mirror that of Leon’s, including a base-spec 110hp turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol, a 150hp turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol with cylinder deactivation and the usual diesels which include the 110hp 1.6TDI and the 2.0TDI in two power outputs, 150 and 184hp.
A six-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard, with Seat also to offer as an option the seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission.
The new Seat Ateca is going to be officially revealed later today, along with all the rest of the details.
