British tuning company TDI-Tuning have earned themselves new bragging rights by being the first to offer tuning options for Mazda’s top of the range little car, the 1.5 Skyactiv-D Mazda2.
In order to give it some extra ‘pep’ while still allowing the car to retain its solid fuel economy and emissions figures, TDI-Tuning used their twin channel tuning boxes for this 1.5-liter diesel engine.
Power output went up from 103 BHP (105 PS) to 137 BHP (139 PS), whereas torque increased from 250 Nm to 315 Nm (232 lb-ft) – which resulted in a “credible change in its driving behavior”, according to the British tuner.
When stock, the Mazda2 1.5 Skyactiv-D is able to sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.1 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 178 km/h (110 mph). While TDI-Tuning didn’t provide any new on-the-road performance numbers, they did mention that the extra torque makes for easier movement in traffic.
Prices for TDI-Tuning boxes start at just under £250, with customers also benefiting from dedicated tech support plus a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
