After about five months of teasing the next Impreza through three concepts, one for each body style, the time has come for Subaru to present the production versions of two of them at the New York Auto Show on March 23.

Subaru will unwrap the all-new 2017 Impreza in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback flavors, leaving the crossover version that’s named Crosstrek in North America and XV in Europe, and which we saw in concept dressing at the Geneva Motor Show last week, for later.

While all three Impreza concepts were made to give us a taste of what their production siblings will look like, in typical Subaru fashion, their designs were exaggerated, so don’t get your hopes up too high.

In a short press statement, the Japanese carmaker said that “The Impreza has been completely redesigned inside and out, from upgraded in-car technology and a more spacious interior to its sleek new body design. The updated model will include signature Subaru features such as Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and award-winning safety technology.”

Earlier this week, the company confirmed that the 2017 Impreza will be the first car to adopt their new ‘Subaru Global Platform’ that will eventually spread out to other models in the range. Subaru says that the new architecture was designed to provide improved handling and feel, as well as “the world’s highest levels of collision safety even in 2025”.
