Since it was first announced, everyone was waiting for the moment when the BMW M2 faced off with AMG’s CLA 45.
Sport Auto brings the two together, a DCT-equipped BMW M2 and a Mercedes CLA45 AMG, in Hockenheimring, to find out which one is the faster.
BMW’s entry-level (purebred) M model is powered by a 365hp twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-litre straight six engine sending its power traditionally to the rear wheels via either a six-speed manual, or in this case, a seven-speed double-clutch DCT gearbox.
Mercedes’ AMG model, on the other hand, uses a 376hp turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder mated exclusively to a seven-speed double-clutch gearbox which sends power to all four wheels.
In theory, BMW’s most desirable model has a difficult task against the compact Mercedes and the camera angle gives us a great view of both cars’ dynamic characteristics.
