In yet another classic car vs bike showdown, we’ve got peak four-wheel performance going up against a BMW Superbike at Silverstone.
The vehicle in question is a Red Bull RB8 Formula 1 car, the same one that won the constructors’ championship in 2012 and helped Sebastian Vettel win a drivers’ title as well. The RB8 won 7 out of 20 races and got on the podium a grand total of 14 times during the 2012 season.
The Tyco BMW Superbike on the other hand is based on a BMW S1000RR and is more than capable of keeping things interesting once the green lights flash, as you’ll see in just a couple of moments.
Naturally, if you’re a fan of racing in general, you probably know that it’s impossible for a bike to keep up with a Formula 1 car in anything that doesn’t closely resemble a straight line. But that certainly doesn’t apply to the start of the race when the Superbike just takes off like a missile compared to the RB8.
Once the Red Bull’s naturally aspirated Renault-powered V8-unit started climbing up its 18,000 rpm range approaching the first corner, the race was officially on and we’ll let you find out how it went without spoiling it any further.
Keep in mind though that if this had been a straight up drag race instead of a circuit race, there would have been no denying the Superbike.
