After giving the mainstream 500 a thorough facelift, FCA is now working on updating the performance version of the popular city car.
Our spies caught a prototype in the final stages of development being driven around while testing in Sweden.
The updated Abarth 500 will receive a redesigned front bumper with new air intakes and a more aggressive style. The headlights and rear lights will receive the same design upgrades, including the circular LED DRLs we saw last summer on the revamped 500.
Inside, the new Abarth will get the new infotainment system and the usual refresh on trims and materials. The options list will be updated to include new wheel designs, colors and even new sets of funky decals.
Fiat is also likely to increase the power, with the range-topping version said to offer close to 190hp.
The new Abarth 500 is expected to be revealed in the next few months.
