Mercedes-Benz has yet to roll out the new-gen E-Class Estate, but that isn’t stopping them from completing the development of the range-topper E63 AMG model.
This prototype wasn’t caught racing on the track, but sitting quietly in an underground garage, keeping its lines closely guarded under vinyl stickers, though its updated grille, new bumpers on both ends and quad exhaust tips, easily gave it away.
While the super estate is not ready to reveal all its secrets yet, what we know so far is that it will share the same chassis and 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with its sedan sibling, the upcoming E63 AMG, which will come with 563hp (571PS) in base form and 604hp (612PS) in “S” trim, according to a leaked document.
It will be available in rear-wheel drive and 4Matic all-wheel drive versions, both paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Zero to sixty should take less than 4 seconds and top speed will be capped out at 250 km/h (155 mph). While the standard model will be unveiled this summer, Mercedes may lift the veils of the E63 AMG Estate in the fourth quarter of the year, at the Paris Motor Show.
