It takes a certain type of mentality to have a BMW 5-Series tester and believe that consumers won’t think any less of your flagship Skoda model.

Apparently, though, that’s the route taken by Pilsen Auto, an Irish Skoda dealership, that won’t shy away from having you think the Superb is as good, if not better than a mid-size premium saloon.

Furthermore, this particular 5-Series looks to be as well equipped as it gets, at least on the outside with the “M-duds”. Sure, the Skoda Superb is considered by many a “looker” within its own segment, but comparing the two cars is a little unfair.

Yes, the dimensions are rather similar, with the Superb even being slightly wider than the 5-Series, and if you take the equivalent 150 PS diesel-powered automatic models and put them next to each other, the Skoda would accelerate quicker to 100 km/h (62 mph) – due to weighing a lot less.

The Superb also has a bigger trunk, but that’s about as far as the comparison goes. The BMW is longer, has a larger wheelbase (which some would argue is everything when comparing size), is certainly more dynamic and more luxurious.

How do you guys feel about it?
