When a reader sent us this picture of a Lamborghini Aventador shot near the Italian brand’s headquarters suggesting it could be the facelift, we were a bit skeptical at first, given the similarities of the wraps with customer delivery covers we’ve seen before.
But then, Lee from YouTube’s Supercar Advocates channel pointed out something that immediately caught our attention and had us back-pedaling on our original assessment.
“That’s what I thought too”, said Lee. “However, look at the air intakes out back”.
And indeed, those secondary air ducts placed behind the ones near the side window, at the end of rear pillar, are absent from the base Aventador LP700-4. In fact, they look the same as the ones used on the Aventador LP750-SV, only this car, doesn’t appear to have any of the other modifications of the SV.
“I do have reports from the factory, as I have purchased a lot of cars, that next year, they’ll be releasing the series 2 updated Aventador,” Lee told us.
If anything, the timing is ripe for a facelifted version of the Aventador to appear, as the supercar entered its fifth year of production – its predecessor, the Murcielago, produced between 2001 and 2010, was revised in 2006, for example.
Thanks to Lee for the scoop!
