PSA is going to announce on April 5 that their premium DS brand will come to the US market.
The report comes from Automobile magazine which got tipped by ‘a well-placed source’.
It’s no secret that the French premium brand wants to expand its business in more continents; DS has been active in the Chinese market with no less than six models with three of them to be exclusive to that region.
If DS is indeed going to enter the US market, it will signal the return of PSA after Peugeot’s withdrawal in 1991. In order to do so, DS will have to develop all-new models as the current ones have not been engineered with the US market in mind.
The compact DS3 is the brand’s most popular model in Europe, marketed as an alternative to the Fiat 500 and the Mini Hatch. The range-topping DS3 Racing is considered a genuine hot hatch, rivaling the likes of the Ford Fiesta ST and Renault Clio RS.
The premium brand revealed the E-Tense electric concept in Geneva this year, a sports car design study that might preview elements from models to come.
