Say what you will about the Hummer H1, the civilian version of AM General’s Humvee, but there’s no denying its capabilities as a survival vehicle under extreme weather conditions.
If you live in Houston or if you’ve been following the news, you’ll be aware that the city has been ravaged by historic floods that dumped some 240 billion gallons of water over the past few days, leaving at least eight dead and more than 1,100 damaged homes. Unfortunately, it’s not even over yet, as weather forecasts have called for more rain this week.
The reason why we’re telling you all this is a video shared by EVS Motors that shows one of its fettled H1s tackling breast-deep waters like a champ.
EVS Motors builds a special version of the Hummer H1 dubbed ‘Search & Destroy’ that’s available in three tiers, each adding to the capabilities of the original vehicle.
In the company’s own words, “With these already capable feats from a stock Hummer H1, we take them to a new level of extreme capabilities! From our Tier 3 to our Tier 1 models of the Search & Destroy H1’s they take already amazing capabilities to new extremes! For example our Tier 1 increases the water fording capabilities by an additional 7″ over a standard H1 model!”
See how it fared in the videos that follow.
