The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the 2016 Infiniti QX60 and Nissan Sentra with the highest safety rating: Top Safety Pick Plus.

Infiniti’s premium crossover scored “Good” in the five crash-worthiness tests and a “Superior” rating for front crash prevention, receiving credit for forward collision warning components in its front crash prevention system that meets the NHTSA criteria.

The 2016 Infiniti QX60 is available with a suite of safety technology that include Forward Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, which is a first for the brand, joined by the Backup Collision Intervention, Around View Monitor and Predictive Forward Collision Warning.

Joining the premium crossover on the IIHS’ list with a Top Safety Pick Plus safety rating is the 2016 Nissan Sentra, which has complied with the new standards that require a “Good” or better rating in all five of the crashworthiness categories for the Top Safety Pick, along with the “Advanced” or “Superior” rating for the front crash prevention of the Top Safety Pick Plus.

Available with Forward Emergency Braking on the SR and SL models equipped with the optional Technology Package, the 2016 Nissan Sentra has joined the Altima, Maxima and Murano, in earning the IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus rating.
