The British company has announced the creation of InMotion, an independent start-up that work on building apps and offering on-demand services.

The London-based start-up will begin testing services in the areas of car-sharing and new ownership solutions in North America, Europe and Asia in the next few months.

“With the development of new apps and on-demand services, InMotion provides us with an opportunity to provide engaging and invaluable experiences to both new and existing customers globally,” said Adrian Hallmark, Group Strategy Director, Jaguar Land Rover. “As a start-up business, InMotion combines the flexibility and pace needed to compete in the ever-changing mobility sector. It allows us to react quickly to new tech and ever-changing customer demands.”

InMotion will focus on developing new transport and car-sharing solutions accessible via smartphones or other connected devices that will be available to everyone and not just Jaguar Land Rover customers.

Up to 30 people will be employed in the new technology company, with JLR saying that its small size will give InMotion “the agility and independence to create nimble services which respond to the fast pace of the mobility sector, but with robust financial and technological support”.
