The new host of Top Gear makes his first appearance behind the frankly insane Ariel Nomad, giving us a first sample of what to expect from him and the show in general.
The video shows us Matt LeBlanc testing the Ariel Nomad, essentially a jacked-up version of the Atom, somewhere in the desert.
This curious creation is one of the most exciting propositions on wheels right now, taking the lightweight brilliance of the Atom and applying the super-fun character of a dune buggy.
Tipping the scales at just 670kg and with power coming from a Honda-sourced 235hp 2.4-litre engine, the Nomad is just a riot to drive. Having only a windshield also works in favor of that last part, as the driver is exposed to all the elements, including of course dust, dirt and given the weather, even mud.
We are glad to see the show’s famous blend of comedy and cars being retained -at least in this promo video- with Matt LeBlanc looking good in his role as a Top Gear host.
The new Top Gear is expected to air in May, so our wait will be over soon.
