China will be getting its own locally-made version of the Nissan Pulsar at next week’s Beijing Auto Show, with the compact hatch to go on sale later this summer as the Tiida, a name used in other regions such as the Middle East.
The official teasers suggest that the cosmetic changes over the current, European market Pulsar that was introduced in late 2014 will be limited to a new fascia adopting the same ‘V Motion’ design language as the latest Maxima, the interior trim and the market-specific infotainment system screen.
Nissan hasn’t said if any of these changes from the Tiida will be applied to the Pulsar.
The Chinese-market version of the 4,393mm long hatchback will be available at launch with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated gasoline four producing 126hp (131PS) and 154Nm (114 lb-ft) of peak torque, hooked up to a standard manual transmission or an optional CVT turning the front wheels. A 1.2-liter turbocharged four will likely join the range in the near future.
