With the Golf GTI getting ready to blow 40 candles at this year’s Worthersee meeting, Volkswagen’s apprentices have put together a one-off to honor the occasion .
Created by five women and seven men, it will join other special versions of the GTI displayed at Worthersee over the years, including the Golf GTI Dark Shine from 2015, the 2014 Wolfsburg Edition, 2013 Cabrio Austria and the 2012 Black Dynamic.
“We took a look at previous Worthersee GTIs– they are all really fantastic cars. I am looking forward to the atmosphere on the lake, the GTI fans and to the reception of our GTI. Every Worthersee GTI is a unique vehicle and every GTI meeting is a premiere. I am proud of our apprentices, their commitment and their skill – once again, the Worthersee GTI 2016 is a very special GTI“, said project manager Holger Rohrbeck.
The apprentice team, training to be automotive mechatronics technicians specializing in plastics and rubber engineering, has received support from instructors and other VW experts in the design departments, paint shop, pilot hall and MultiMediaCenter. Full details on the one-off Volkswagen Golf GTI will be released on May 4, in Austria, when the veils will officially come off.
