After the first leaked picture with the new-gen Renault Koleos has hit the web yesterday, Renault went on with the official announcement.

However, while the D-segment SUV was referred to as “Maxthon” in some reports, the French manufacturer will stick to the Koleos moniker.

Moreover, it stated that the new SUV will play a key role in the firm’s “product offensive“, which includes “the introduction of 10 new vehicles across the world” in a “record-breaking year“.

Details on the new Koleos have not been disclosed yet, but previous reports indicate it will be underpinned by the same platform as the Nissan X-Trail, with which it will share some of its four-pot petrol and diesel mills, coming in both FWD and AWD. In China, it will get two gasoline units, a 150 HP 2.0-liter and a 186 HP 2.5-liter, connected to a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an (optional) automatic.

The 2017 Renault Koleos will make its official debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 25, and should go on sale locally shortly.

Starting next year, It will also be offered in Europe and other regions with different specs and powertrains from the Chinese variant.
