Can a replica ever be priced more than the real deal? It can if you’re this eBay seller from Ohio that’s asking for a whopping $199,990 for a C6-based replica of the 1967 Corvette Stingray 427, when there’s an original for sale at $119,000!
Ironically, CR Coachworks’ 1967 Retro-Vette is based on Chevrolet’s 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible anniversary edition (with the Z06’s 7.0L V8) created for the model’s 60th birthday paying homage to the 427 big block that powered Vettes back in the day – or in other words, like the original 1967 Corvette Stingray 427 that’s also up for sale on eBay.
On CRC’s website, prices for the ’67 Retro-Vette start from $87,500, but that doesn’t include the C6 Convertible donor car, nor any additional options that can pile up to another $72,380 if you tick every available extra, taking the coachbuilder’s cost to $159,880 – again, excluding the donor C6.
If you must have the replica with the classic exterior looks and modern C6 Z06 performance, amenities and chassis, then there’s nothing more to say, but to us, getting the $119,000 fully-restored original Stingray and using the remaining $80,000 to get yourself a nicely-equipped and brand-new C7 Corvette Convertible as well, makes a bit more sense.
