Citroen had two world premieres for this year’s Beijing Auto Show: an electrified version of its compact sedan and a new executive saloon.
Developed along with its local partner, Dongfeng, the new C6 is based on the Dongfeng Fengshen A9 and the EMP2 platform.
Sitting at more than 5 meters (197 in) in length, with a 2.9 meter (114 in) wheelbase, the flagship model is believed to wave goodbye to the V6 units used by its unrelated predecessor and go for a 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol engine, producing a little over 200 HP and 207 pound-feet (280 Nm) of torque.
Dongfeng and Citroen also cooperated in electrifying the C-Elysee, known as the “E-Elysee”, in its new form. The compact sedan uses an electric powertrain and a lithium-ion battery, and it can be driven for up to 250 km (155 miles) on a single charge. It will hit dealerships across China in 2017, but it’s not known yet whether Citroen plans to offer it, or its larger sibling, the C6, in other markets.
