It’s true what they say, big things really come in small packages; just look at the Polo R WRC, although Wimmer has something even more powerful for those looking for a thrill.
Yes, you read that right, Wimmer has pushed the supermini out of its comfort zone, offering a tuning kit more potent than the 314 Hp and 430 Nm of torque Polo R World Rally Car.
After carefully modifying the stock 2.0-litre, 217 HP, 474 Nm (350 ft-lb) of torque, with an upgraded turbocharger, an adjusted air intake, a 6-bar-fuel-pump, a modified high-pressure pump, a Y-pipe with sport catalytic, and an internal stainless steel sports exhaust – among other things – the €10,200 ($11,537) stage 4 performance upgrade bumped the vehicle’s total output to an eye watering 414 HP and 651 Nm (480 ft-lb) of torque.
Enough grunt to push the car to a top speed of 280 Km/h, thanks to its newly-acquired 3.15 Kg/HP power-to-weight ratio (from 6,02 Kg/HP). The 0 to 100 Km/h (62mph) remains a mystery (for now), but it’s probably influenced by the driver’s bravery.
The Volkswagen also comes with a more efficient high-performance K&N air filter, a level 3 KW coil-over suspension, and a set of stylish 8 x 17 OZ rims wrapped in 214/40/17 tires. All these extra upgrades require an additional $4,283, but are not mandatory. It’s suffice to say that 414 HP are enough for the little beast.
