On one corner, we have Bentley’s 600hp twin turbo super-luxurious SUV and on the other, Tesla’s electric seven-seater crossover with rear gullwing doors; this is going to be interesting.

Motor Trend give us one of the most interesting (and entertaining) videos of the year, featuring the two crossovers going head-to-head for the title of the fastest  crossover money can buy.

The British brand’s first entry into the crossover world is a celebration of expensive materials and cutting-edge chassis technology wrapped in a polarizing bodywork with a price tag that brings a tear or two to… basically everyone.

The Bentayga also holds the title of the fastest SUV on the market right now, offering a ridiculous top speed of 187mph (301km/h), courtesy of its aforementioned twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine.

Tesla’s approach on the other hand couldn’t be more different. The Model X P90D basically throws away everything we know about traditional luxury values and internal-combustion motoring, using instead a pair of electric motors (259hp at the front and 503hp at the rear), a tech-infested cabin like no other vehicle on the road, trick falcon rear doors and of course a working semi-autonomous Autopilot system.

Sadly, the combined output is not 762hp because the 90kWh battery pack is not capable of supplying its full juice to both motors during flat-out accelerations and is rated instead at 532hp and 713lb ft of torque, which is more than enough to make this seven-seater faster than almost anything other on the road today.

And adding to the controversy, the Tesla Model X costs almost half the price of the Bentley Bentayga. Which one is going to be crowned the best crossover in the world?
