Introduced in 2009 and facelifted five years later, the current Polo is close to ending its product life cycle .
The upcoming supermini will ride on the MQB platform and, despite gaining different body panels, a new grille and slender headlight optics on the front end, it will continue to look similar to its predecessor, as AutomobileMagazine reports.
VW will rearrange the model lineup and add a jacked-up variant one year later after the launch off the regular hatch. Moreover, a crossover derivative with increased cabin space and boot capacity will go against the likes of the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur and Peugeot 2008.
Despite sharing common hardware with the upcoming Polo, the subcompact crossover will sport its own visual identity. Power will come from a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, ranging from 1.0 to 1.5 liters, and all-wheel drive will be offered on top versions.
