Almost three months after Pagani showed us the Huayra BC, the first example of the supercar has been brought to the United States.
With just 20 units to be produced and all of them being sold out even before the Italian manufacturer officially presented it, despite carrying $2.5 million price tag, spotting one on the road can prove to be quite a challenge, never mind one that is willing to flex its muscles for the camera.
This example is believed to be Prototype 00, which was seen in the flesh at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and will be used by Pagani at various events nationwide. The BC is the most technologically advanced version of the Huayra, yet, and it was named after Benny Cayola (BC), a close friend of Horacio Pagani and his first ever customer.
Inspired by its track-focused predecessors such as the Zonda R and Zonda Cinque, it tips the scales at 2,976 lbs (1,350 kg), meaning 291 lbs (132 kg) less than the unmodded Huayra, thanks to the use of a new composite material that is 50 percent lighter and 20 percent stronger than carbon fiber.
To the untrained eye, the supercar might look almost identical to the already “standard” Huayra, but the truth is that every single body panel, except for the roof, is new. Adding up to the whole package is the tweaked 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, developed by Mercedes-AMG, which is 100 HP more powerful, to a total of 789 HP and 811 pound-feet (1,100 Nm) of torque.
